Enfield is a small suburb in the Burwood Council area (postcode 2136) on the Ausgrid network — 1,191 private dwellings at the 2021 Census, split almost evenly between separate houses (40.6%), townhouses (29.6%) and flats (28.6%).
That mix shapes the after-hours calls: a house with a tripping board, a townhouse with a dead circuit, or a unit where the fault might be inside the lot or on the building's shared supply. We attend all three, and we know how to tell them apart fast.
Faults across a mixed suburb
When you call, tell us what failed and when: which lights or points went out, whether a safety switch tripped, and what was running at the time. That narrows the fault before we arrive and shortens the callout.
In a separate house, an after-hours fault belongs to one owner: we isolate the failed circuit, make the home safe, and quote the repair before starting. No strata, no committee.
In a unit or townhouse, one check comes first: if the hallway, lifts or garage still have power, the fault is probably inside your lot; if shared areas are out too, it may be common property — the meter panel or a riser — which is the owners corporation's to fix.

I highly recommend Joe, he's very skilled, kind and does honest work. He did a massive last minute job for us, installing an entire 17.4kw ducted aircon system after our old unit broke.

It was an extremely exceptional service from Joe! He came to replace my cooktop on my rented unit then went above and beyond liaising and explaining with my property manager.

I recently had Joe fix two exhaust fans at my place, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the service. Joe showed up on time, explained everything clearly, and fixed the issues quickly.
Street out, or just you?
If the homes around you have also lost power, the fault is on the network — Ausgrid supplies the local postcode, and its outage page lists current incidents with restoration estimates.

Hot nights and older circuits
Canterbury Racecourse, about 2.4 km away, is the nearest open weather station; its January mean maximum is 27.8°C across 1995–2026.
On evenings like that, air conditioners load up circuits that were never sized for them. A board that only trips in summer is telling you it is at capacity — worth having checked before the next heatwave rather than during it.

What to do while you wait
If the power is out and you are waiting for us, a few things help. Keep the fridge and freezer closed, switch off sensitive electronics at the wall, and leave one light on so you know when power returns.
If the fault involves a burning smell, heat at a switch or outlet, or water near live wiring, keep everyone clear of the area — and do not open the board yourself.

Renters and after-hours faults
With 32.4% of Enfield homes rented, some emergency calls come from tenants. If that is you, tell your agent what has failed and where — urgent electrical repairs are normally arranged fast, and we can deal with the property manager on authorisation while making the home safe.
Anything immediately dangerous — a burning smell, a hot switch plate, water near live fittings — comes before the paperwork: keep clear and call straight away.

Questions from Enfield
My Enfield unit is dark but the hallway lights work — what now?+
That pattern usually means the fault is in your lot rather than the shared supply. Look at your safety switches: if one refuses to stay up, leave it off and call us. We attend after-hours unit faults and deal with strata if the cause proves to be common property.
Every house in my Enfield street has lost power — who do I call?+
That is a network fault, not an emergency electrician job. Ausgrid supplies the suburb and lists restoration times on its outage page. Once the network comes back, if your home still has no power or a switch refuses to stay on, that is the moment to call us.
Why does my Enfield home only lose power on hot nights?+
Summer load is the usual answer: on the hottest nights, air conditioners push older circuits past their limit. A board assessment shows whether the fix is capacity, a failing device, or a dedicated circuit. The check is quick and the quote comes in writing.
