Fusion splicing, OTDR testing and OS2/OM4 fibre install

Fibre backbone, splicing, OTDR testing and MPO/LC termination for commercial and industrial sites. Registered ACMA cablers with fibre endorsement.

## What's included
- OS2 single-mode and OM3/OM4 multi-mode installs
- Fusion splicing to enclosures, patch panels and cabinets
- OTDR and light-source/power-meter test reports
- MPO/MTP, LC, SC and ST termination
- Existing fibre link fault finding
- As-installed drawings and certified test results

## Overview
Fibre optic cabling is the backbone of every serious commercial network — data centre uplinks, building risers, campus backbones, industrial control networks — and it only works if it's spliced, terminated and tested properly. We hold ACMA cabler registration with fibre endorsement, own the fusion splicer, OTDR and light-source/power-meter, and deliver certified test reports on every job.
Typical Sydney projects include running OS2 single-mode risers up an office building for a tenancy fit-out, splicing MPO ribbon fibre in a data cabinet for a new switch stack, terminating LC patch panels for a comms room refresh, and diagnosing intermittent packet loss on an existing fibre link with an OTDR trace. Every link gets a bi-directional test report we hand over as part of the commissioning package.
For industrial and roadside sites we also handle fibre fault repair — locating the break with an OTDR, exposing the buried duct, re-splicing and re-testing the link, and documenting the repair for the asset owner.

## Fixed pricing
$1,200–$25,000 AUD per project. Workmanship warranty 24 months. Typical on-site duration ~8 hours.

## Symptoms we hear about
- Building requiring multi-tenant fibre backbone
- Ageing OM1 fibre limiting speeds
- New commercial fitout needing OS2 runs

## Common causes
- Legacy multimode fibre
- Riser cabling at capacity
- No fibre patching in comms room

## How we handle it
1. **Design** — Route survey, fibre type and termination method confirmed.
2. **Pull and terminate** — OS2 or OM4 fibre pulled through risers and terminated to LC/SC patch panels.
3. **Splice and test** — Fusion splice where required, OTDR test each strand and produce test report.
4. **Handover** — Patching schedule, cable ID labels and OTDR trace report supplied.

## Applicable standards
- AS/CA S008 — Customer cabling
- ISO/IEC 11801 — Generic cabling

## FAQs
**Do you provide certified OTDR test reports?**
Yes — every link is bi-directionally OTDR-tested and light-source/power-meter tested, and a PDF certified test report is issued as part of the hand-over.

**OS2 single-mode or OM4 multi-mode — which should we use?**
OS2 is the default for anything over ~300m, building risers, campus backbones and future-proofing. OM4 makes sense for short data-cabinet runs using existing multi-mode SFPs. We'll spec against your active kit and design.

**Can you splice MPO ribbon fibre?**
Yes — ribbon fusion splicing to MPO/MTP cassettes and enclosures is core scope, especially for data-cabinet builds and 40/100G uplink stacks.

**How is a fibre install priced?**
Priced per link, per splice and per termination — the OTDR test and certified report are included, never a line-item add-on.

**Can you locate and repair a fibre break?**
Yes — OTDR trace to locate the break, expose the affected section of duct or riser, re-splice, re-test and hand over the repair record.

**Are you registered for fibre cabling in Australia?**
Yes — registered ACMA cabler with fibre endorsement, which is legally required for any fibre install in Australia.
