CAT6 data, TV points and antenna installation

Working from home? Streaming everywhere? Get proper hardwired CAT6, extra TV points and a strong digital antenna signal - installed neatly by a licensed cabler.

## Local context
Balmain sits in Inner West, Sydney. Postcode 2041, coordinates -33.857, 151.181.
Nearby landmarks: Darling Street, Elkington Park, Balmain East Ferry.
Common property types: Victorian workers' cottages, waterfront homes.
Peninsula suburb — salt air corrodes outdoor boards; heritage overlays limit exterior conduit runs, so recessed weatherproof enclosures are the norm.
We also service: Strathfield, Strathfield South, Homebush, Homebush West, Burwood, Croydon.

## What's included
- CAT6 data cabling to any room
- Additional TV points and RF distribution
- Digital antenna install and tuning
- Home network cabinet setup
- Wall-mounted TV with cables concealed in-wall
- Coax replacement for old, weak TV signal

## Overview
Hardwired CAT6 beats Wi-Fi every time for streaming, gaming and serious work-from-home — lower latency, higher throughput, no dropouts when the microwave runs. We're registered ACMA cablers (a legal requirement for any data or comms work in Australia) and pull neat CAT6 to any room in the house, terminate to wall plates and patch panels, and can set up a small home network cabinet if you want a proper distribution point.
TV distribution is the other half of the job. Most patchy-signal complaints in Sydney aren't the antenna — they're old lossy coax, cheap splitters, or a corroded connection on the roof. We test signal at every point, replace RG-6 quad-shield coax where needed, and can add extra TV points off a proper distribution amp so every screen gets a strong picture.
Wall-mounting a TV? We drop power and HDMI inside the wall to a recessed outlet behind the screen — the cleanest install possible, no visible cables. We stock the wall brackets, mounts and conduit and finish the job in a single visit.

## Fixed pricing
$180–$550 AUD per data/TV point. Workmanship warranty 24 months. Typical on-site duration ~3 hours.

## Symptoms we hear about
- Wi-Fi drops in the room farthest from the modem
- Streaming buffers at peak evening times
- TV picture breaks up on windy days (antenna signal)
- No signal on new wall points after fitout

## Common causes
- Steel roof / brick walls blocking Wi-Fi
- Old RG59 coax with corroded connections
- Antenna misaligned or masthead amp failed
- No structured Cat6 cabling from the modem to key rooms

## How we handle it
1. **Signal walk-through** — We measure Wi-Fi signal in each room and check TV signal levels at the antenna and wall points.
2. **Plan the runs** — We plan Cat6 or RG6 quad-shield runs through the ceiling and walls — least invasive, best aesthetic.
3. **Install cabling** — Cables pulled, wall plates chased in, mounts fitted for TVs or access points.
4. **Terminate and test** — Every RJ45 tested to 1 Gbps, every coax point tested for signal strength and MER.
5. **Configure and hand over** — Access points paired, TV points tuned, and we leave a labelled patch panel or plan for future changes.

## Applicable standards
- AS/CA S009 — Installation requirements for customer cabling
- ACMA Cabling Provider Rules

## Recent anonymised jobs
### TV point relocation and cable tidy
Living room in Balmain was re-arranged and the TV needed to move to the opposite wall. We chased a new outlet into the plaster, ran RG6 quad-shield to the roof antenna and installed a wall-plate.
Outcome: Clean single-outlet install, no visible cabling, full HD/UHF signal.. Approx. 110 minutes on site.

### Cat6 data drops for a work-from-home study
Home office in Balmain needed hard-wired data for two desks. We ran Cat6 from the study back to the modem, terminated on RJ45 wall plates and tested to 1 Gbps.
Outcome: Two 1 Gbps data outlets, tidy runs in the ceiling, no wireless drops.. Approx. 180 minutes on site.

## FAQs
**Do I need CAT6 or is Wi-Fi enough?**
For streaming, gaming or serious work-from-home, hardwired CAT6 is faster, more reliable and lower latency. Wi-Fi 6 mesh is great as a backbone but a hard-wired point beats it every time.

**Can you conceal the TV cables in the wall?**
Yes - power and HDMI dropped inside the wall to a bottom outlet. It's the cleanest look and is done on most of our wall-mount installs.

**My TV signal is patchy - antenna or cable?**
9 times out of 10 it's the old coax or a splitter, not the antenna. We test the signal at every point and quote a fix.

**Are you a registered cabler?**
Yes - registered ACMA cabler as required by Australian law for any data or comms work.

**Can you install PoE security cameras and network cabling in one visit?**
Yes — we regularly cable cameras, access points and NVR back to a central cabinet or NBN box on the same visit. All CAT6 with proper terminations.

**Do you install NBN outlets and internal cabling?**
Yes — we can move an NBN box, extend the NBN internal outlet to a better location, or add data points fed off the router.
